Will I be contacted about delivery once I’ve placed my order?
All customers will be contacted by the courier before delivery is attempted. Drivers cannot wait at the property for more than 15 minutes, so please consider this if extra labour is required on the day to relocate items to a safer place. They have many deliveries during their working day, and the vehicles are all on a Tachograph. This means time is crucial to their day. Transport managers plan all pallet deliveries the day before, and the drivers can not exceed their working hours. Please include any information regarding delivery access on your order notes. Please also note this with the haulage company, when they call to arrange your delivery date.
I live in a built-up area where only bicycles fit through?
The haulage company will not be able to deliver if there is no safe place to leave the pallet(s), or a safe off-road alternative. We can deliver to an address near to you, but large vehicle access will be required at the new address. This would need to included on the order form for us to accept, as change on the day is not possible. If you have low-level overhead power/phone lines trees near your property, please ensure you advise the haulier on the initial call. Please ensure no parked cars are blocking access to delivery, and there is a hard surface for off-loading. We will be using a large refuse-lorry sized vehicle, with a tail lift. We do not use a crane to off-load. Smaller lorry’s can deliver if needed, but please put this on the notes when ordering. Domestic drives are not suited for large, heavy lorries (underground drain pipes and manhole covers will collapse under pressure) so please do not ask the driver to park on your drive.
What happens if I need to change delivery after arranging with haulier?
We cannot offer a morning or afternoon delivery. Deliveries are between 8.00am – 5.30pm, on the scheduled day of delivery. If you need to rearrange delivery after agreeing with courier, please be aware there will be a second delivery charge. Such deliveries will need to be re-booked and paid with haulier. Our hauliers plan their delivery routes the day before delivery, so sudden change cannot be accepted. Please do check the order for damage, any damaged items will need to be signed as “Damaged” on the driver’s paperwork. Please ensure you also include a total of the number of affected items. We can then claim on the haulier’s insurance for the replacements and arrange re-delivery with you quickly and efficiently. If damaged stock is not brought to the driver’s attention, we cannot claim on the hauliers insurance, and replace free of charge.
How is my delivery off-loaded on to my hard-surfaced drive?
A large 18ft refuse-lorry sized vehicle using a tail lift off-loading system (not a crane off-load). You will need a drive or safe, level area to accept the pallet delivery. If our driver reports that there is no safe place for off-loading, you will need to rearrange delivery and be liable for a second charge. This is very rare, as most customers understand the nature of our products – which all arrive on pallet(s).
Blocks Usage
Can the Decking Block be laid directly onto the soil?
Decking Blocks are to be laid on firm, compacted ground, followed with approximately 75mm sand cement mix under each block. Use dry mix. not wet mix. Once you have your levels all in place, then very lightly wet each block with a watering can or hose pipe, making sure you do not wash away the mix. Also, the damp ground will set the mix.
Will my Decking Boards bend if I use less Decking Blocks?
We recommend laying the Decking blocks 850mm apart, using 50mm wide joists. The height of the joists you choose will not alter the use of our Decking blocks – the most important measurement is the 50mm width. Your choice of Decking finished boards are 28mm / 33mm. If installing the thin 25mm Decking Boards, you may need to add a short length of 100mm x 50mm timber. This should be screwed or nailed to the centre of your (newly created) 850mm grids, to add support.
Can I use standard Decking Blocks for my office / garden room project?
Our standard Decking Block is suitable for large patios etc. Our Heavy-Duty Decking Blocks are more suitable for garden buildings/projects with more weight.
